Summer Essentials: A Lightweight Cardigan
Posted on June 22nd, 2011 | Ask The Tailor, Sweaters | $255 at Rag & Bone

A staple piece for summer, a lightweight cardigan is an essential piece for cool summer nights or perhaps a windy day out on the boat (if your lifestyle suits it). This Stripe Cardigan from Rag & Bone is a cotton/ wool blend with a deep V and a quiet nautical theme that is summer appropriate without screaming “ahoy sailor”. The Breton Stripe has been a popular look among New-England sailing enthusiasts for years and of course an ever present look in France given its roots in Brittany on the French coast. Pair it with a solid white v-neck t-shirt, slim lightweight chinos, and either a pair of canvas sneakers or top-siders and you’ve got yourself a great, simple weekend look.

LL Bean Signature Lambswool Sweater
Posted on October 12th, 2010 | Sweaters | $59.00 at LL Bean Signature

Although we’re in the midst of a heat wave here in the district, I’m always on the lookout for new fall gear. Sometimes, though, to get what you want you gotta look backwards instead of forwards. LL Bean Signature has really come to play lately with their F/W tops, and this sweater is no exception. Made of 100% lambswool, It’s perfect for the fall, and in the winter I’ll throw it under the Pea Coat to rock it old school. It’s cut a little on the silm side, and falls right at the waist, which is great for a shorter guy like me. Of course, LL Bean has one of the best shipping and return policies on the planet, so if by chance anything were to go wrong, you know you’re in good hands. Sometimes the best is already out there.

Sometimes you wake up on Sunday and don’t want to get as put together as usual. This is when you need a good set of go-to gear. Good jeans, good shorts, boat shoes, and a good crew neck. From L.L. Bean’s new Signature line comes this soft 85%cotton/15%cashmere pull-over. It’s not too thick to wear on an early summer morning with a pair of khaki shorts, but also could work for a quick stop in the office on Friday. Coming in at under $70, a steal for this quality, this is a piece that will last you years, and hopefully get a fair amount of wear. I ordered mine today- I highly suggest you do the same.
