Brooks Brothers Extra-Slim Fit Chambray Denim Sport Shirt
Posted on October 11th, 2010 | Denim, Shirts | $69.50 at Brooks Brothers

I think that it’s safe to see all of our readers have heard of a Canadian Tuxedo. Let’s make something clear though, you certainly may wear denim on denim as long as the washes are different (i.e. the Chambray Denim Sport Shirt above with a pair of dark selvedge jeans). If you’re still stumped about how to wear a denim sport shirt try it with a clean pair of tailored chinos or possibly a slim pair of corduroys.  If you are really bold and think you might have what it takes to pull it off you can try it with a navy suit.  If you opt for this route I would suggest going without a tie and definitely proceed with caution.  When pulling off modern trends like this it’s all about the fit.  Brooks Brothers was slow to shift but they have now given in to the fact that slim is here to stay.  They now offer full lines of Non-Iron Slim Fit Dress Shirts as well as Classic Cotton Shirts in Slim Fit and Extra Slim Fit.  Of course as shown above they also offer a handful of great Sport Shirts in Slim Fit and Extra Slim Fit too. The shirt pictured above is pure cotton denim washed with a short ainsley collar and barrel cuffs. It is also available in Regular Fit.

Hamilton 1883 Oxford
Posted on February 3rd, 2010 | Shirts | $185 at Hamilton

OX_blueThe next best thing to a made-to-measure sport shirt.  The 1883 Collection by Hamilton is comprised of six classic American style sport shirts.  Our favorite, the basic oxford is a slim fitting, pre washed, versatile shirt. It comes in Blue, White with Red Stripes, and solid White.  It’s $185 price tag might seem like a bit of a stretch but compared to it’s Hamilton made-to-measure counterpart and given the incredible quality that the Houston, Texas based company has been known for, it is very much worth the extra few dollars.  Hamilton Shirt Co. couldn’t have labeled them much better, “Ready-to-wear shirts built of our bespoke tradition, but made for the modern man.”  We will certainly agree with that.

In our experience here at Inside Thread, Vince has always made clothing that lasts a long time and is constantly keeping up with the trends, but of course, in their own fashion. Plaid shirts are quite abundant lately, but Vince has created their own reiteration. Their Duo Plaid shirt, is a quite a simple piece with two button-down pockets in the front and made with a super soft cotton. Under the cuffs, theres also a check pattern for some flare if you decide to roll up the sleeves.
