This update is for all the New England prepsters (and those of you who dress like you are). Once summer hits in men’s fashion there is an abundance of khaki, madras, white linen, Nantucket red, and of course seersucker. Well for this summer by far the coolest article of seersucker clothing I’ve seen has been this double breasted seersucker sport coat by Polo Ralph Lauren. It is cut shorter and slimmer than a traditional Polo sport coat, has peak lapels as we would expect on a double breasted sport coat, and mother of pearl buttons. Pair it as shown and let your prep flag fly.
You really can’t go wrong when you’re shopping at J.Crew. It’s not terribly expensive for what you’re getting, their looks are constantly up to date, and they’re always reinventing classic styles. Their Solid Tweed Sportcoat in a heather charcoal is crafted from wool and has slim lapels and is shorter cut than most sportcoats for a more modern look. This is the one sportcoat we would definitely wear with denim, no doubt, but could definitely be dressed up more in khakis for the winter. If you’re in the market for a new casual sportcoat, then look no further, J.Crew is where it’s at.
